About the Artist:
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica and raised in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Chris has always had a fascination with the mechanical, geometrical and emotional aspects of character art. He began his art in two dimensional forms such as painting and drawing but was ultimately drawn towards a three dimensional medium. While the mediums Chris explored changed, the subject of his work has remained the same.
Chris Mora’s metalwork is most specifically, but not limited to, robots and metal figures. This interest has manifested in the creation of a series of massive, static, outdoor robots and a series of indoor, poseable (articulate) robot sculptures meant to be posed and played with by the viewer. While Chris’s robots are heavily inspired by his interest in the mechanical and technical, the whimsy and playfulness of his robots is at the forefront of his work. Among his robot work, Chris regularly machines parts, fabricates structures and sculpts decorative pieces for his clientele. His preferred metals are steel and stainless-steel. His preferred finishing methods are chemical blackening, powder-coating and Raptor-Liner.
